Acrylic Paint on Canvas, Wood, Chrysanthemum Flowers
With technological development, many of our relationships have moved online. Hence, the work comments on the authenticity of these relationships. The layout of the artist’s Instagram profile has been repurposed and manipulated to resemble a columbarium niche, likening online accounts to gravestones, both being indicators of our existence. Thus, the work highlights the transient nature of one’s digital presence. By painting the work and juxtaposing the painted flowers with real ones, the work also reflects the superficiality of social media as a reconstruction of our lives.
