Model
The most selfless yet self-obsessed person
You could meet, depending on how you looked at it:
From the side, from the front, pressed
Up against the glass,
From the back, in its natural habitat,
With family, or with friends.
Enclosed within one-way mirrors,
Enclave where grass is evergreen,
Streams calibrated to flow at the right second —
When visitors walk in.
No exposure to UV-rays to retain light skin,
No visiting after opening hours,
That's when it sheds its skin.
Masks of blubber, blabber on paper,
Certifications and a stacked Linkedin.
Circus tricks of social obligation,
Peanuts and cheers from its fan club of humans. It abided
By however its two trainers instructed:
Two steps left, and another two right,
Hair kept pruned and perfect.
Mate once in spring and another in summer,
With whoever we throw in
As your opposite sex lover.
With whom you'll share the space in your enclosure, until you die,
And then we'll commemorate you in the papers:
Class of 2020, Valedictorian,
Student of the Year (twice in a row),
Student Body President.
Beloved by her family
And her friends,
And everybody's vision of perfect.
